Ginny Cathcart Receives the Darlene Thomas Award

Please join the CID in congratulating Ginny Cathcart for being the 2009 recipient of the Darlene Thomas Award for Vision and Leadership in Dental Hygiene. Ginny Cathcart has been a dental hygienist for 35 years, and has dedicated much of her career to advancing the dental hygiene profession.

This award is given to a member of the College of Dental Hygienists of British Columbia who meets the following criteria:

  • Demonstrate and communicate a broad, progressive perspective on the profession of dental hygiene, including a future perspective;
  • Possess qualities that dental hygienists wish to emulate, including a consistently professional demeanour, encouragement of others, acceptance and carrying out of extra responsibilities and challenges in the profession, lifelong learning, compassion and humour; and
  • Demonstrate balance in their life, including strong family values and a commitment to the community.

Now as a member of the Centre for Instructional Development, she has brought those and many more attributes to the team.

Those who have been lucky enough to work closely with Ginny know that she is a great asset to the college and community.

Well deserved, Ginny!
